What a Difference a Year makes…

Well there have been a lot of changes take place over this past year. My family re-located to Western Kentucky, my oldest daughter Jordan moved to Australia, and Bo won an NCAA Championship! Wow….. It has been almost a year to the day since I last posted and I felt the need to get back in touch with the wrestling world, especially the Wrestling dads. So here we go….
I would like to repeat a statement from last year. I couldn’t be prouder of Bo for the successes he has had on and off the mat this past season. The heart ache and pain that he felt after last years NCAA tournament turned to triumph and joy this year.
It was almost a perfect season that had only one blemish, that probably cost Bo a shot at winning the Hodge Trophy, but lets not get greedy! Last years loss provided motivation and renewed commitment that turned Bo into one of the most dominant wrestlers in the NCAA this season.
Bo tied his teammate Zain Retherford (Who was just announced as the Hodge Trophy winner!) and Gabe Dean with 17 victories coming from Pin, this was tops in the Nation. This was an incredible accomplishment considering he was in arguably the toughest and deepest weight class in NCAA’s.
So lets get into the nitty gritty of the this blog and answer the the million dollar question… How did Bo do it? How did he turn failure and defeat into a National Championship? I would like to start by quoting something I said in last years blog, “While the journey hasn’t always been easy, it is very rewarding to look back and see how the tough times actually have had significant impact on future success!” How true this is if we only stay the course and use our experiences as building blocks and not as road blocks.
It has always amazed me how Bo responds to a loss or setback and turns it into a victory. I can think of so many examples throughout his wrestling career that a devastating loss ended up bringing even greater success!
I will try and get into more details of the how’s and why’s in future blogs and I promise to be more frequent with my blogging if people are interested in hearing what I have to say?
